Gokceada Salt Lake
It is one of the most important wetlands of the island with its lagoon called Salt Lake in Aydincik and its ecosystem that provides biological production. It is home to migratory birds such as pelicans, wild ducks, and geese, especially flamingos, which are under protection, during the spring months.
The lake, which was formed as a result of the sand wall piled up as a result of strong winds being filled with sea and rainwater, creates a wonderful view by leaving a thin layer of salt behind when the water evaporates in the summer months.
It has been understood from the analysis that the mud under the salt layer contains a large amount of sulfur, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, barium, magnesium, carbonate, sulfate, and bicarbonate in addition to the quartz compound. Due to these chemical components, it is believed to have a relaxing effect on diseases such as psoriasis, rheumatism, and calcification.
